Spend a Year Fighting Poverty

Each year, AVODAH recruits people in their 20s from across North America to spend a year working on urban poverty issues as full-time employees in local non-profit organizations. During their year of service, participants live and study together, forming a community of people making a connection between social activism and Jewish life.

Corps members help bring housing, education and other basic services to thousands of people each year, and save each organization we partner with $18,500 dollars in staffing costs.

• Join AVODAH: The Jewish Service Corps, a unique one-year program for people 21-26 combining work for justice, Jewish learning, and community building.
• Work full time on issues you care about—immigration, hunger, literacy, public health, domestic violence, and more. Where will I work?
• Learn from veteran organizers, activists, and educators about how to make change in the world and about the Jewish connection to social justice. What will I learn?
• Live with other young people from all Jewish backgrounds and build a community committed to integrating social change and Jewish values. Where will I live?
